Acne
It is frustrating isn't it to follow such a clean lifestye and still have to deal with breakouts, etc.? I (Ana) dealt with so many acne type skin problems for years and really think staying on a regular schedule of yoga and organic fresh foods, including plenty of raw foods, made a difference for me.
Often acne breakouts and can be linked to a hormonal imbalance.
Hormones can get off course for a number of reasons ranging from stress and chronic inflammation, to environmental chemical disruptors (found in plastics, etc.), to genetic predisposition.
In addition, the skin is an elimination organ. When the liver, lungs, kidneys, or digestive tract are overtaxed, toxins leave the body through the skin.
We recommend the Digestible Yoga segment on our Yoga Quick Fixes DVD, There are also flaxseed supplements which can help clean out the digestive tract.
According to yoga, the food we eat should be digested and eliminated within 18 hours. Meat and processed foods with little or no roughage, can take 72 hrs. to pass through us.
All of Kundalini Yoga works on the lungs, of course, via the breathing. We recommend our Fat Free Yoga, especially the \\\"Your Life is in Your Own Glands segment,\\\"as well as our Yoga Cleanse Workout for its work on the liver. The liver also circulates hormones as a woman goes through her cycles and sometimes this can make the liver sluggish and gives rise to various symptoms.
We recommend sticking to a clean diet and drinking plenty of filtered water. You might try an herb like chasteberry which is said to be great for hormonal balance. Good supplements for guarding against breakouts are zinc, a good b complex, as well as probiotics, digestive enzymes, and EFA supplements. I recommend whole food supplements when possible.
